Shopping for luxury goods has become incredibly easy in the digital age. Simply by using your fingers to click a few times, you can buy a new Valentino Garavani handbag and those shoes you’ve been dreaming about. While the convenience of online shopping is undeniable, nothing can compare to the full-service experience of shopping in a luxury boutique and seeing products in person, all while enjoying a glass of champagne. Recently, Valentino opened a brand-new flagship store on Madison Avenue in NYC, and I had the opportunity to explore it. The new location boasts three floors, each dedicated to showcasing various collections from the Maison. The store’s interior is simply stunning, with a particularly inviting and intimate feel on the upper floors, where Women’s Ready-To-Wear is displayed. Here, clients can reserve one of the store’s private rooms for an exclusive VIP shopping experience. The private shopping rooms are carefully designed to resemble a sitting room, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that transports you to Italy for a moment. The use of red details throughout the store pays homage to Valentino’s rich heritage.
The selection of handbags available in-store is vast, and the best part of shopping in-person is being able to compare and contrast different options, as well as discovering something you may not have initially been drawn to. Despite always gravitating towards the Rockstud bag, I was intrigued by the new Valentino Garavani VLogo Moon bag, which was first seen on the runway during the Maison’s L’École Spring/Summer 2024 presentation.
The VLogo Moon bag immediately caught my eye with its unique crescent moon-inspired shape and versatile design meant for day and night wear. After trying it on in various colors, I ultimately chose the white version, as it felt timeless and effortlessly stylish. The soft leather and bold details sealed the deal for me, as it exuded a sophisticated yet understated charm that was perfect for both casual day use and elegant evening outings. Additionally, the bag comes in two sizes, and the small size was just right for me. I love the way it looks when carried by the hardware, which makes quite a statement. The VLogo serves as a bracelet, and carrying the bag this way adds an extra touch of uniqueness. For daytime use, the bag also comes with a leather shoulder strap, adding a practical element to its design.
Visiting the newly-designed store served as a fantastic reminder of the immersive experience of shopping in person. In a world where everything moves so quickly, it was refreshing to slow down, immerse myself in the enchanting world of Valentino, and simply savor the entire process of acquiring something new.
