Louis Vuitton recently headed to Hong Kong for Pharrell’s second menswear collection, and it’s become evident that Pharrell is a major force in the fashion industry. The show, which had elements of surf and sun, was the first Men’s Pre-Fall show for the Maison, blending cultural influences from Hawaii to Hong Kong and beyond to symbolize the shared values of humanity.
The collection builds on themes established during Pharrell’s first collection, emphasizing the idea that clothing conveys energy and that multicultural influences can be found in a wardrobe’s most fundamental pieces.
The presentation took place at night along Hong Kong’s Avenue of Stars on the Victoria Harbour, providing panoramic views of a cultural exchange hub that has welcomed travelers since the 15th century.
Pharrell’s upbringing near the ocean has been a grounding force and a constant source of inspiration, aligning perfectly with Louis Vuitton’s focus on travel. Literal references to surf culture were evident throughout the show, from the sandy runway to the models carrying surfboards.
In terms of bags, Pharrell continues to revamp the iconic Speedy bag, which appears in various iterations throughout the collection. From oversized Damier to Damier Denim, embellished Monogram, and more, Pharrell also introduces the new Surfing Monogram this season, inspired by Hawaiian scenery, available in four colorways and various bag silhouettes.
