Nicolas Ghesquière is marking a decade at Louis Vuitton, and his updated vision for the Maison will continue, as the French brand recently announced the extension of the Creative Director’s contract.

The designer, who took over from Marc Jacobs, has had a remarkably successful tenure, redefining womenswear at the Maison. His time has been marked by creativity and innovation while staying true to the Maison’s rich history and unique DNA. He delved into the brand’s archives, delving into its origins and enduring House codes while reinventing them for today.

His success has been acknowledged both creatively by fashion critics and financially, bringing in a record-breaking €20 billion in annual sales last year.

The New Chapter of Louis Vuitton Lives On

While leading the brand’s womenswear division, Ghesquière has excelled in offering pieces with a modern yet sophisticated sensibility. He has consistently produced collections full of desirable pieces that impress, and this new chapter for the Maison will continue.

“It is a true honor to continue writing the story of Louis Vuitton. We began the first chapter ten years ago, defining a new identity based on extraordinary heritage and a constant focus on innovation.” -Nicolas Ghesquière, Louis Vuitton Women’s Collections Artistic Director.

CEO Pietro Beccari also praised Ghesquière’s Louis Vuitton, further discussing the designer’s successes both creatively and for the Maison as a whole. While the designer has worked to redefine the world of womenswear, he has also helped to enhance the brand’s leather goods offering by creating numerous cornerstone silhouettes that have become new classics.

Not to mention, in the ever-changing world of fashion, it’s refreshing that Ghesquière’s position at the table remains.
