The days when Men’s Fashion Week was primarily focused on ready-to-wear pieces are long gone. In the past, menswear collections featured a few bags here and there, but now, the carryalls paraded on the runway are just as captivating and noteworthy as the rest of the collection. At Loewe, Jonathan Anderson and his team consistently deliver, and this season’s collection was no exception. Every aspect was meticulously attended to, including the show space, which was transformed to reflect the overall vibe of the collection. The walls were adorned with large screens that resembled stained glass windows, evoking memories of Loewe window designs by José Pérez de Rozas, the creative force behind the House’s displays for over 30 years, starting from the 1960s. The collection itself is a masterpiece; from the craftsmanship of each individual piece to the styling, Anderson excels at creating playful yet intricate designs. By exploring the concept of “collaged realness,” the collection delves into the profound impact of our social media feeds, paparazzi images, and celebrity culture on the world we inhabit, creating a kind of collage. This culture of collage is precisely what artist Richard Hawkins’s work seeks to investigate. The collection incorporates Hawkins’s cool, vibrant prints on items ranging from bags and jewelry to clothing. New House icons like the Puzzle Fold Tote and oversized versions of the Squeeze bag, also featured in denim, display embellished adaptations of the artwork.
