Earlier today, Celine unveiled its Summer 2024 collection on film, showcasing a blend of casual and cool styles, as expected from Hedi Slimane and his team. Filmed earlier this year at the breathtaking National Library of France, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, situated in Paris’ 2nd district. As one of the oldest French cultural institutions renowned for its vast collection of medieval and modern manuscripts and captivating architectural views. The location holds significance for Celine as it is situated on Rue Vivienne, just across the street from one of Celine’s Ateliers.
The entire collection, named CELINE TOMBOY, pays tribute to the 90s era and represents the early stages of Hedi Slimane’s design career. The ready-to-wear pieces are a fusion of downtown grunge and uptown chic. Leather bombers are paired with sparkly mini dresses, blazers are effortlessly thrown over silk ensembles, and denim cut-offs are matched with furry jackets. Each ensemble exudes a unique sense of coolness, setting Hedi Slimane’s Celine apart from other brands due to its distinctive wearability.
Despite the collection’s overall casual nature, elements of glamour are still present. For instance, a tasseled gold mini dress worn with delicate strappy heels and a low-back sequin gown. Hand-embroidered couture dresses and jackets provide an interesting contrast to the relaxed vibe of other looks. The collection’s wearability is further emphasized by the models sporting headphones featuring the iconic Triomphe logo, a collaboration with Master & Dynamic.
Moving on to the bags, the fan-favorite Triomphe line introduces a few new additions, with the spotlight on the Victorie. This soft addition complements the line’s more structured offerings. The Victorie features a relaxed construction with a flap closure and a convertible chain shoulder strap, available in various summer variations ideal for everyday use.
For those who prefer sleek shoulder bags, the Lola is the perfect choice. Its baguette-like shape fits comfortably under the arm. The Lola is defined by its iconic bold Triomphe logo flap, seamlessly transitioning from daytime to nighttime and adding a touch of sophistication to the Triomphe line.
