In the seven years since Anthony Vaccarello took over as the creative director of the esteemed French fashion house Saint Laurent, he has made a significant impact. One of the remarkable aspects of Vaccarello’s work at Saint Laurent is his ability to design for the modern woman while paying homage to the rich history of Yves Saint Laurent.
While Vaccarello’s successes extend beyond handbags, his approach to designing these accessories has faced some criticism. Instead of reinventing the wheel, Vaccarello understands what works for the brand and what appeals to consumers. This may seem lacking in innovation from a design perspective, but it is a smart and methodical strategy from a business standpoint.
This season, Saint Laurent continues to expand its popular line of logo bags, introducing the delightful Bea tote. The Bea Bag exudes a contemporary feel with its soft and slouchy silhouette. The defining feature of the bag is the brand’s signature Cassandre logo.
Inside the Bea Bag, you’ll find a tonal suede lining and a spacious main compartment with an internal zippered pocket. The bag’s interior also features lace-up strings that can be used to fold in the sides, allowing the Bea to change its shape. Available in black deer leather for the Fall/Winter season, the Bea measures 19.7″ x 11″ x 7.1″ and is perfect for everyday use. It retails for $3,450 and can be purchased through Net-a-Porter or Saint Laurent’s official website.
